FAQ

Get the Answers You Need About Our Climate Controlled Storage Facility

Q: How can I contact you?
A: All our contact information is on our Contact Us page, including our address and phone. If you would like to contact us via e-mail, we can be reached at StateOfTheArtStorage@comcast.net.

Q: Do I need climate-controlled storage?
A: For those items that may be sensitive to temperature extremes, whether they are personal belongings, valuable furniture, antiques, paintings, musical instruments, books, videotapes, albums, photographs, papers, electronics, important business-related documents or pharmaceuticals, climate control storage is recommended.

Q: Do I need insurance?
A: State Of The Art Storage does offer content insurance through an independent insurance company. However, many homeowners and renters policies do cover self-storage to a certain limit (check with your insurance provider to be sure). It is recommended that you do have coverage.

Q: How do I estimate the amount of space I need?
A: See our page “Unit Sizes.” Also the size unit you need depends on several factors besides the cubic space your items will occupy. If you don't plan on going in and out of your unit much, you're best off taking advantage of the height of the units (8 ft.) and stacking your items as high as you can. If you will be going in and out a lot, give yourself extra room to make your items more accessible. Call our office for advice on choosing the right size.

Q: What is the minimum amount of time I can rent a storage unit?
A: One month. If you need storage for longer than one month, units are rented on a month-to-month basis. Storage leases will automatically renew on a month-to-month basis. We ask that you notify us when you plan to vacate your unit.

Q: Do I have to pay first and last month rent up front?
A: No. You are only charged for the month you move in. You pay your next month's rent on or before your anniversary date (which was your move-in date). There is a one-time administration fee of $10.00 per unit rented charged at the time of rental.

Q: How will I be billed?
A: State Of The Art Storage does not send out bills. You will be responsible for mailing or personally dropping off your payment. Payments can be made by check, credit card or cash. Automatic payments can also be made using Discover, MasterCard or Visa.

Q: Can I change to a different unit if my requirements change?
A: Yes, at any time during your lease you may transfer to a different sized unit.

Q: Will my rent be pro-rated if I move out early?
A: State Of The Art Storage will pro-rate rent up to 5 days after your anniversary date. For example: your move-in date was June 10th, your move-out date was September 14th. You would be responsible for paying the 4 days in September. If your move-out date was September 16th, you would be responsible for the full month’s rent.

Q: Does someone have to be in the office to let me through the security gate?
A: No. You will be given your own private pass code that allows you access from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., 365 days a year. Access hours can be extended on an individual basis should the need arise.

Q: Do I need a lock?
A: Yes. You can either bring your own lock or purchase a lock from us. In either case, you will be the only one who has keys to your unit.

Q: Can I store anything I wish in the unit I rent?
A: We do not permit the storage of perishable items (food, plants, animals, etc.) contraband, explosive materials or hazardous waste. Also, units cannot be rented for the purpose of conducting business, playing musical instruments or used for repair and maintenance.
